Funding & Accessibility

Cherished Moments provides:

Professional Recreation Therapy services delivered by a qualified Recreation Therapist (RecT).

Recreation Therapy uses assessment-informed, goal-directed recreation and leisure interventions to support physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing.

Families in British Columbia may be eligible to use approved individualized, ministry, or charitable funding to access Recreation Therapy services. Cherished Moments provides the documentation required to support funding applications and reimbursement requests.

Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD)

Families accessing Autism Funding or Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) funding may be able to allocate funds toward Recreation Therapy services, depending on their individualized funding agreement.

Services are delivered by a Recreation Therapist (RecT) and follow the Recreation Therapy APIE-D process.

Community Living British Columbia (CLBC)

Adults receiving CLBC Individualized Funding may choose to contract Recreation Therapy services to support:

  • Community inclusion

  • Skill development

  • Emotional regulation

  • Functional participation

Services are provided by a qualified RecT. Documentation is aligned with individualized service plans.

Jordan’s Principle- Indigenous Services Canada

First Nations children may access Recreation Therapy services through Jordan’s Principle funding when aligned with identified health or developmental needs.

A formal Recreation Therapy service proposal, including goals and measurable outcomes, can be provided to support applications.

Métis Nation British Columbia

Families accessing the Miyoopimaatishihk (Wellbeing) Program may inquire about using funding toward Recreation Therapy services delivered by a qualified RecT.

Military Family Resource Centres

Approved special needs family funding may be applied toward Recreation Therapy services when eligible.

Charitable Grants

Families may access charitable funding. Approved grants may be used toward Recreation Therapy services where permitted under grant guidelines.
